If you're a reader, then I'm sure at some point you've come across this list (or one similar) of classic titles. Looks like I've read 24 out of 100 and 4 I haven't finished yet. Seems I have a bit of catching up to do. Good thing I have a couple of these on my TBR pile. There are some of my most treasured books on here, such as Jane Eyre and Rebecca. Both of these books influenced and inspired my writing in a way few others have done. But, there are some titles I feel are missing from this list. I would have added A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, and Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. And, don't you think Edgar Allen Poe should be on this list?

How many have you read? Are there any titles not already listed that you might have added? Do you have any favorites?

  3. I seem to have only read like 12 or so and may not have finished some of them. Part of my problem is that I like to read for pleasure and honestly being assigned books like most of these were in school takes the fun right out of it. Ususally I am thinging of a book i would rather be reading. I admit it I hardly read the books assigned in High School yet was smart enought to get A's. I have always felt life was too short to read books you don't want to read. Therefore I only list ones I want to read and my pile is still quite extensive.

  7. I love this list. I've read 43 and some of those multiple times. Sadly one of the multiples was Heart of Darkness. I had to read it for class and I didn't get it, so I read it again. Still don't get it. Many of the rest are on my to read list.

  25. I hang my head in shame. I've only read 17. My list would be longer if I read the required books in high school but there were ways I found to get around that. I'm slowly working through a list like this now. I just finished "Dracula" last week. My one of my favorites off this list is "Animal Farm" - loved the donkey :)

    Thanks for the chance.

  26. I have read 38 on the list. I want to read all of the classics, but, there's just so many books that I want t to read just for pure, selfish pleasure!

I look forward to reading The Witch and the Vampire, as well as The Witch and the Wolf!

    Best wishes :)

  27. I've read maybe 20 or so but it's been ages, high school I'm sure. I wish I'd read more of them but decided once I'd retired I'd only read for fun so nowadays it's pretty eclectic what I pick up to read.
    Thanks for the giveaway!
