Dancing with a Ghost...The Witch's Kiss #8Sunday

Every Sunday the Weekend Writing Warriors post an 8-sentence excerpt from a published work or a work-in-progress for the enjoyment of readers.

This week's excerpt comes from my newest novel, The Witch's Kiss.

A twinkle of merriment lit her blue eyes as she said, “It’s been an age since anyone asked me to dance. And I do so love a waltz.”

“Of course, my dear,” Sage spoke through smiling teeth, his lips barely moving. “I can’t imagine why anyone might care to call Bedlam when they see me waltzing with thin air.”

Marianne sighed dramatically. “I’m not simply air. I’m a ghost.”

“And invisible to all but me.”

Fighting the Change...The Witch and the Wolf #8Sunday

Here we are! The first Sunday of the year! What better way to begin a new year with some excerpts for readers to enjoy? I've joined again with the Weekend Writing Warriors to offer an 8-sentence excerpt. Please be sure to check out the other blogs participating in this Sunday event. Also check out #8Sunday on Twitter to find more great excerpts!

This excerpt is taken from The Witch and the Wolf. It's the night of a full moon and Lord North has some unexpected guests during a time when he's at his most vulnerable. He's fighting the change that's about to turn him from human into werewolf...

He forced his gaze to the wall and heard Lord Prescott speaking but for the life of him, he could not understand the words. A loud buzz had erupted in his ears. He wondered if perhaps he should release the wolf here and now. It became obvious Lillian had no desire to marry this man, and it appeared clear enough she was being forced into this marriage. If he could help her by destroying these men, by ripping the limbs from their bodies, by chewing on their soft, wrinkled flesh, their sweet blood dripping from his salivating mouth.

“My lord, perhaps you should tell them.” Amery’s voice broke through the buzzing.

“What?” North asked, dumbfounded.

“Tell them the truth,” Amery insisted, his eyes darting back to the men who stood behind him.

Blurb:

Lord Jeremy North's curse is to become a werewolf during every full moon, turning into a bloodthirsty monster that kills with no remorse. When he finds a woman nearly frozen upon his doorstep, his sense of honor compels him to help her, even at the risk he might kill her himself.

Lillian Merriweather hadn't planned to get caught in a blizzard while traveling the English countryside. Nor had she planned on finding refuge in a house full of secrets. But Lillian has secrets of her own. And what she's running from is not far behind...
