Confronting the Wolf #8Sunday #WeWriWa #PNR

The Weekend Writing Warriors hosts a group of writers who share excerpts of their published works or works-in-progress every Sunday for reader's enjoyment. Please, be sure to check out the other writers in this group. You might find your next great read!

I'm joining again for some Weekend Writing Warrior fun! This week's snippet comes from an upcoming new release called, The Wolf's Bride. This is a paranormal romance set in Regency England. In this scene, the heroine has broken into the hero's rooms and has a pistol pointed at him while he's reclining in a bathtub. A very vulnerable moment!

Excerpt:

"I have it on good authority that a woman was killed here last night and you are the man responsible."

His head lifted.

"How did she die?"

"She was torn to pieces. They say she was ravaged by a wild animal."

He turned his head to the side as if to see her better, but she stood directly behind him. Madeline suspected he might see her silhouette, but he couldn't view her completely. Even if he could, he'd have difficulty identifying her with the hood of her cloak pulled low over her face.

"Why would you think I am responsible if they're saying it was an animal attack?"

"Because I know what you are."

If you'd like to read more of The Wolf's Bride as well as more than a dozen other werewolf stories, you can pre-order Guardian, A Limited Edition Collection of Wolf Shifters.

A Lover from her Past #WeWriWa #8Sunday #excerpt

The Weekend Writing Warriors hosts a group of writers who share excerpts of their published works or works-in-progress every Sunday for reader's enjoyment. Please, be sure to check out the other writers in this group. You might find your next great read!

In my last #WeWrWa excerpt, I introduced readers to Arianne. You can read that here. This week, we continue with that scene where Arianne identifies the mysterious voice that intrudes on her solitude.

Excerpt:

“What makes you think to find it here?”

Now she heard it, what she should have been on guard for earlier; the crunch of sand under boot. He
walked with slow, measured steps. She refused to leap to her feet to face him. He had caught her unawares.

She’d not let it happen again.

“Because, Love, you are here.”

She inhaled sharply and held her breath for several long seconds.

Marco.

If you'd like to read more:

Captain Marco Dante was captured and sentenced to hang two years ago, but he escaped before his punishment was carried out. Now he's come back to the woman whose memory kept him alive those long months in prison. Arianne had been his grand passion, but he failed to see how much she meant to him until it was too late. Can he recapture her heart? Or has he lost her forever?

Ariann never imagined she'd see her notorious pirate lover again. Though her heart sings with joy at his return, she knows he hasn't come back for her but for the treasure he left behind. She agrees to help him find it, but can her heart withstand one more adventure with him?

A Voice from the Past #WeWriWa #8Sunday #excerpt

It's been quite a while since I joined the Weekend Writing Warriors. But, its a brand New Year and I have new books, and new sentences to share with readers. I hope you'll enjoy!

This short excerpt comes from my historical romance, The Pirate's Lady, where a voice from the past intrudes upon Arianne's solitude.

Excerpt:

“I’ve come for what’s mine.”

The voice came from behind. She hadn’t heard footsteps approach. The rolling waves crashing on the
shore and the stars twinkling in a black velvet sky had lulled Arianne into a dreamy trance. Her back stiffened at the sound of the voice. She tried to estimate how far away he stood from her position kneeling in the sand without turning to see.

Only a few steps she reckoned. Her hand crept to the sword on her belt. She gripped the handle, comforted by the leather covering the sturdy carved wood. The blade was sharp and deadly.

He Needs Answers #pnr #WIP #excerpt #NaNoWriMo #WeWriWa #8Sunday

The Weekend Writing Warriors hosts a group of writers who share excerpts of their published works or works-in-progress every Sunday for reader's enjoyment. Please, be sure to check out the other writers in this group. You might find your next great read!

I'm nearing the end of writing my WIP novel for this year's National Novel Writing Month. I've been posting brief snippets all month about my New Adult Paranormal Romance, Loving Boone. If you've been reading these posts, thank you for following with me along this journey! I've needed inspiration to complete this challenge and reading your wonderful comments have been great help to keep me writing.

If you're just joining me now, you can catch up by reading Going Home, To Meet Again, and He's Not Human

“So, why free me? Your father will be furious when he finds out I’m gone.” Even now, Boone kept his keen hearing peeled for any signs of footsteps approaching the door. Once he was finished with Beth-Ann he’d make his escape, but not before he got his own answers from her.

“Because, I believe you.”

He lowered his hand only a fraction so his fingers rested alongside her neck. His thumb traced her jawline and her pulse fluttered rapidly against his palm.

“Boone,” Beth-Ann said, her voice a little breathless. His gaze dropped to her mouth.

He's Not Human #pnr #WIP #excerpt #NaNoWriMo #WeWriWa #8Sunday

The Weekend Writing Warriors hosts a group of writers who share excerpts of their published works or works-in-progress every Sunday for reader's enjoyment. Please, be sure to check out the other writers in this group. You might find your next great read!

I'm half-way through writing my current work-in-progress, Loving Boone. This is my National Novel

Writing Month project. The goal for NaNoWriMo writers is to finish a 50,000 word rough draft
during the month of November.

I've been posting my progress in snippets for Weekend Writing Warriors to help encourage me and others to finish the novel. For me, this is a daunting task considering my four children keep me busy 24/7. I've been lucky enough this week to have the opportunity to write 2k a day during the 1-hour nap time of my 18-month old son while the older kids are at school.

If I can keep that schedule up, I'll have no worries about finishing on time. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Loving Boone is a New Adult Paranormal Romance with a shapeshifter hero. You can read the other snippets I've posted this month about Boone and Beth-Ann at Going Home and To Meet Again

“No one will hurt you here.”

“Not anymore?”

She flinched.

It was as if she gazed into a stranger’s face expecting to see the boy she remembered. Boone might look the same in appearance with his dark skin and black hair, but his eyes had changed. His soul had changed. He’d been wounded in ways she couldn’t comprehend.

And, he had it right, despite her beliefs that her father wouldn’t kill him. Her father had already inflicted injuries on him that might’ve killed a normal human.
But, Boone wasn’t human, was he?
