There's probably a long list of baddies that I would really not like to meet, but to be honest, the first one that I think of that I never, ever, ever, ever want to meet is Dolores Umbridge from the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling.
She might not appear as frightening as let's say, Lord Voldemort, but she keeps her evil hidden behind a charming smile and I think that's more terrifying than anything else.
Plus, I really hate to admit it, but she reminds me of someone I knew in real life. Someone who made all the appearances of being a sweet, lovely grandmotherly type person to those people in public, but to her family, mainly her husband and kids when they were growing up, she was an absolute nightmare. It's scary that people like this can exist in real life. So, yeah, I'll pass on meeting Dolores.
Also, while I'm thinking of it, Bellatrix LeStrange is crazy scary, too. I don't think I'd like to meet her either. She was more frightening than even Lord Voldemort. She also killed one of my favorite Harry Potter characters. I can't ever forgive her for that one.

I couldn't agree more with your choices. Dolores was truly scary (and I knew someone like her once, too)!
ReplyDeleteMy post.
It's disturbing that there are real people like her out there, but I guess JK got her inspiration from somewhere. Or someone.
DeleteRE: Dolores Umbridge ... people who can stab you in the back while smiling angelically are the worst sort of folks. She's a great choice. My post is here: http://www.mariannearkins.com/wednesday-weekly-blogging-challenge-characters-id-never-want-to-meet/.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, definitely. Dolores Umbridge is one of the worst characters in Harry Potter.
