Seized by the Alien Berserker by Lucee Joie ~ #AlienEmbrace #Excerpt #scifiromance

Seized by the Alien Berserker by Lucee Joie

Enter the barbaric world of the Vikingr Berserkers.

With their rage jacked up to brutal levels, they are either shipped off to a remote island to fight among themselves or pitted against other deadly creatures in exhibition short events.

Yet, Grim is different.

Sure, he can feel the all-encompassing rage, but he knows there is more to him than just his compulsion to kill.

Plus, that human hottie that just entered the arena - the one he is supposed to kill - well, she's just straight-up gorgeous.

She's feisty too and that somehow speaks to the part of him that doesn't want to be the monster he was born as.

Can Erica change Grim? Can she help him to become the man he always knew he could be?

If you desire a happily ever after with unbelievably hot alien Vikings, no cheating, and steamy sex scenes then grab your copy today!

Chapter One: Erica

I am running. Running so fast that it feels like I am flying and the feeling is exhilarating.

Yet, at the same time, I am desperate to pull up, to stop my frenetic dash toward the woman in front of me. I want her. I want her so badly that I can taste it in my mouth along with the dry dust that is kicked up and swallowed as I hurl myself across the arena.

But I also don’t want her. Well, not in the way that I should want her during this exhibition. No, I desire her in a way that I can’t explain. Maybe when the drug fog clears my rage, I will be able to set the feeling into words. But, for now, I simply indescribably need her.

As I approach, I can see a ray of sunlight as it highlights her milky skin and her black as coal hair. It is pulled back severely into a bun, parted harshly in the middle, making her look like some sort of fierce warrior. She stares me down, her icy blue eyes cutting me with her piercing gaze.

I falter.

The drug in my system forces me to keep running even though I stumble blindly against it. I want to turn away and not rip her apart in the most gruesome manner.

Also, behind me, somewhere, is a lindworm.

It is the only thing that doesn’t allow me to stop completely, to fight against the rage that courses through my veins. If I slow down or deviate, it will pass me.

It will kill her.

I want to kill her too but that is the drug needling its way into my mind. I roar out against the notion and the woman doesn’t even flinch at my display.

Her Alien Warrior ~ #AlienEmbrace Collection #Excerpt #scifiromance

Her Alien Warrior by Tricia Schneider

When Zarick’s spaceship crashes on an abandoned planet, the last thing he expects to find is a human woman and her son. As she nurses him back to health, he vows to protect the family who has taken him in, never believing he might lose his heart.

With the translator broken, Thalassa struggles to communicate with the sexy alien. Is he friend or foe? As war rages in the skies above, she begins to dream of a new life filled with tender love and possibility.

But when the battle in space threatens their lives, Thalassa must do all she can to save her alien warrior.

Excerpt:

She stepped into the tub, careful not to slosh the water over the sides and disrupt her candles. Then she slowly sank into the heated water.

Soapy bubbles encased her body, rising to her chin. Once she fully submerged, she leaned against the rim, closing her eyes, allowing her body to relax in the warm, scented water.

She lost track of how long she stayed in her bath. Eventually, she cleansed her body and hair. But after all that work was complete, she was reluctant to part from the water.

In the distance, she heard the beginnings of a thunderstorm approaching, yet still she remained in her reclined pose. She didn’t want to let go of this rare moment of tranquility.

That was how Zarick found her.

The door swung open, bringing a breeze to disrupt the flames of the candles. The cool air touched the wet flesh of her upper body. Goose pimples erupted.

Thalassa’s eyes flew open, a startled gasp escaping as she surged upright. Water sloshed over the sides of the bathtub from her abrupt movement, and she locked eyes with Zarick.

She didn’t know what he had expected when he entered, but his eyes widened at the sight of her. His mouth opened, then closed as his gaze traveled from her face and then lower to the twin peaks of her breasts just above the soapy bubbles.

Her nipples hardened. Whether in response to the cool air or the sudden heat flaring within his eyes, she couldn’t be sure.

“What are you doing?” Thalassa let out a wispy breath as she moved her arms to cover her exposed breasts.

For a split second, she regretted her rash movement. A sudden flash of an erotic fantasy enraptured her mind. The thought of Zarick joining her in the bath made her body warm and tingly.

A reaction that had nothing to do with the water.

Zarick’s mouth moved. For a moment, he struggled to force the words out.

At last, he said, “Ryon.”

Just one word. Her son’s name. But with his worried tone of voice came the meaning Zarick couldn’t convey with words alone.

Ryon wasn’t home.

Thalassa frowned, her gaze dipping to the bubbly water surrounding the tops of her knees.

How long had she been in here? Hours, it seemed. Long enough that Ryon should have returned home by now.

Something must be wrong.

She met Zarick’s troubled gaze and knew he had concluded the same.

She lifted her hand, pointing at the counter by the sink.

“Hand me that towel.”

Zarick grabbed the towel, opening it for her. She stood, letting the water cascade from her body as she wrapped the towel around her, hiding from his view.

“I need to get dressed.” She waved her hand for him to leave the room. He nodded but seemed to hesitate, his gaze still traveling her body, even covered with a towel. He stared for a moment at her exposed feet, and again that erotic warmth cocooned her.

Then he blinked. He turned, clutched his one crutch and cloed the door behind him.

Thalassa breathed heavily, focusing on getting air into her lungs.

Worry for Ryon overtook her desire to continue whatever had happened in this room with Zarick.

Because something had happened. Something unspoken had passed between them. She didn’t know what or how, but she felt it deep within.

It was a sensation she yearned to explore at another time. After she knew Ryon was well and safe.

Favorite Romance Tropes #BookLovers #LongandShortReviews #BlogChallenge

This week's topic: My Favorite Tropes of the Romance Genre

My favorite subgenres for Romance are Paranormal and Historical, but these tropes can be applied to any subgenre in my opinion. I have too many favorites to list here, but I'll pick some of my top faves along with the best recommendations I have for these types of reads.

  • Amnesia - The H/H doesn't remember how s/he got where s/he is because of a blow to the head, a medical condition such drugs or some other creative reason. Now, s/he has to function in their life, learning about the person they are/were, sometimes there is a mystery involved (to spice things up!)

  • Friends to Lovers - Falling in love with Best Friend/Best Friend's Brother/Brother's Best Friend - My favorite is when the heroine is the younger sister of the hero's best friend, but there are other combinations that are fun to read, too! The best friend is taboo, but love disrupts the balance of friendship and if they declare their love, then there's no going back to the way things were between them.
Romancing Mister Bridgerton With 2nd Epilogue (Bridgertons Book 4) by [Julia Quinn]     When He Was Wicked With 2nd Epilogue (Bridgertons Book 6) by [Julia Quinn]Emma by Annette Barnes

  • Employee/Employer - Falling in love with the Boss Romance - The H/H are put in close working conditions (office, manor house, etc.) where their attraction for each other grows.

  • Alien Abduction - The H/H is an alien from another planet and abducts the H/H. This abduction might be planned or accidental. The purposes of the abduction are for repopulating an alien planet, experimentation, servants/sex slaves, fulfilling alien prophecies, mail-order alien brides, etc.
206857     Accidental Abduction (Alien Abduction Book 1) by [Eve Langlais]     53998636. sy475

#BookReview ~ Stargate SG-1: Hostile Ground by Sally Malcom and Laura Harper #scifi

Hostile Ground by Sally Malcolm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It was meant to be an easy mission, a walk in the park. But SG-1's first trip off-world after Colonel O'Neill's return from Edora (STARGATE SG-1: One Hundred Days) proves anything but easy.

Tapped for a cover assignment, O'Neill must conceal the truth from his team at all costs. So when Dr. Daniel Jackson is injured and the mission begins to go awry, tensions quickly reach breaking point. Stranded on a hostile planet, and desperate to find a way home before it's too late, O'Neill leads his fractured team on a desperate journey across a barren and forsaken world.

Faced with an enemy more vicious than anything they've encountered before, only SG-1's strength as a unit will keep them alive - if the secret O'Neill is hiding doesn't tear them apart first...

My Review

I loved this book! From the very first page, it pulled me in with the intense action and the well-written dynamic between the main characters. I've read books written by authors about favorite TV shows before and there are times when I question if the author has ever actually watched the show. Not with this book! This story seems written by an author who is clearly a fan of the show. The way the story and plot were set up, the action and the dialogue, the characters and setting, it was all true to the Stargate SG-1 world and characters. I could clearly see this story unfold as an episode in my mind.

I really enjoyed how well the story was written. The action never stopped, even during the moments when the characters weren't being chased or fighting for their lives, there was still the overall suspense of what happens next that kept me glued to the book and turning the pages. I loved getting in the heads of the characters, seeing their thoughts and emotions, hearing their voices, watching them struggle. And it was scary! The creatures the team were up against were nightmarish!

The twists and turns of the plot were amazing. Being a fan of the show, I questioned a few things as I began to see a distinct difference between the show and the way the book unfolded. And while I questioned the change in events, I kept going wondering how the author was going to pull this off. I'm so glad I did! I did not expect that ending and it was thrilling! Now, I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

Normally, I don't read reviews for the books that I want to read because of possible spoilers. I don't like giving spoilers away myself, but I was glad that I got a glimpse of one review stating that this book ends with a cliffhanger. It does! And while I normally don't enjoy cliffhanger endings, knowing that this book has a sequel, I didn't mind so much. It just means the story isn't over and I can't wait to read more!
