Sharing Favorite Authors on International Authors' Day! #IAD

Normally, I love talking about books. But when someone asks who my favorite author is I get a little tongue-tied. There's no way I can pick only one favorite. It's worse if someone asks which is my favorite book of all-time. There are hundreds! No kidding! How could I possibly choose?

To celebrate International Authors' Day, I decided to share a few of the books written by some of my favorite authors. These are authors that I must read. When I hear they've published a book, I'll go buy it without even looking to see what its about because I know from experience it will be a great read!

On Goodreads, I've tried to list all of my favorite authors (in no particular order). I know I might be missing a few and there's always more to add when I find a new author!

Wolf's Bane by Ash Krafton

Since becoming oracle to the demivampire two years ago, advice columnist Sophie has battled werewolves and survived a vampire attack (or two). However, not only was she powerless to save her lover Marek when he slipped to the brink of evolution, she also witnessed his transformation into a falcon, the symbol of Horus United.

Sophie’s quest to save Marek is further complicated when rock star Dierk Adeluf – who also happens to be the king of the Werekind – invites her backstage after a concert. Just when it seems she will find respite from heartache, Sophie is bitten by a werewolf and Dierk decides she is destined to be his queen.

Sophie is caught between the demivamps she loves and the Were who commands her to love him. Throw in his jealous wanna-be girlfriend and an ambush by witches, and there you have the big mess that Sophie calls her life. And, hello? Her soul mate is still a bird.

She’s supposed to be the girl with all the answers, but Sophie needs more than a little advice--she needs divine intervention.

Thirteen by Kelley Armstrong

A war is brewing—the first battle has been waged and Savannah Levine is left standing, albeit battered and bruised. She has rescued her half brother from supernatural medical testing, but he’s fighting to stay alive. The Supernatural Liberation Movement took him hostage, and they have a maniacal plan to expose the supernatural world to the unknowing.

Savannah has called upon her inner energy to summon spells with frightening strength, a strength she never knew she had, as she fights to keep her world from shattering. But it’s more than a matter of supernaturals against one another—both heaven and hell have entered the war; hellhounds, genetically modified werewolves, and all forces of good and evil have joined the fray.

Uniting Savannah with Adam, Paige, Lucas, Jaime, Hope, and other lost-but-notforgotten characters in one epic battle, Thirteen is a grand, crowd-pleasing closer for Armstrong’s legions of fans.

Whisper His Name by Elizabeth Thornton

Breaking the code to her heart...

Someone wants the book back--and is willing to kill to get it. The only trouble is, Abbie no longer has the book. It's locked away in the customs house in Dover. Now it's a race against time as Abbie stays one step ahead of her pursuers. The last person she wants to confide in is her best friend, Hugh Templar, whom she knows only as a formidable scholar who shares her passion for Roman antiquities.

But as Hugh keeps turning up where she least expects him, a few things begin to dawn on her....Not only is Hugh surprisingly--in fact incredibly--handsome without his glasses on, but he's strangely "professional" in how he handles her mysterious enemies.

Hugh is clearly not what he seems. And soon Abbie realizes that neither is she...as she discovers what it means to love with all her heart and soul.

I'm an author of paranormal and gothic romance. Before the supernatural took possession of my pen I worked as an Assistant Manager and bookseller for Waldenbooks. After the store closed, I turned to writing as my next career choice. Now I write romance while taking care of my 3 young children. I live with my husband and 2 neurotic cats in the coal region of Pennsylvania.

I have a new book coming out at the end of this year called, The Witch's Kiss. It's Book 4 of The Merriweather Witches. If you haven't read the first three, you can get caught up now...

However, a chance encounter with Julia challenges the dom in him, and he must convince her that, though she's At His Command, submission is the ultimate power.

This title contains: explicit language, older woman/younger man theme, anal sex, and BDSM.

Excerpt:

He was so damn handsome, the candlelight softening the lines of his face, the reflection flickering in his eyes. When he looked at her, like he did now, she felt ten years younger and beautiful.

He threaded his fingers through her hair, cupping the back of her head. He tugged, bringing her face closer to his. “I’m so glad to hear that.” His hot breath feathered her mouth. “I have high hopes for later.”

A puff of warm air caressed her cheek. She didn’t know if she closed the distance between them or if he leaned closer. All that mattered was his lips claiming hers with a soft kiss. Her breath caught in her throat on a gasp of pleasure that allowed him to stroke his tongue inside her mouth, tantalizing her with the promise of more.

Clutching at his lapels, she tugged, wanting him closer. Despite her best efforts, he kept the contact light and full of promise. His firm lips molded her mouth to fit his, and his tongue coaxed hers to play. She yielded herself to his masterful command and relished his skill. Even though he only touched her lips and the back of her skull, her entire body tingled.

Every inch of her skin cried out for a piece of the action. Her breasts filled the cups of her built-in bra, weighed down with the need to feel his hands. Her nipples puckered, painful with the need to be stroked. Her pussy clutched and spasmed, empty and aching. She wanted nothing more than to climb onto his lap and rub against him, good girl rules be damned.

A discreet cough separated them, the black and white attired waiter backing out of the room having served their first course. The tang of balsamic vinegar rose from the plate of mixed greens. She picked at the salad, her mind occupied with thoughts of the kiss and what he had planned for later.

“Julia.”

Looking up, she met his gaze, the lust in his eyes unmistakable, even from across the table. “Yes?”

“You need to understand that I have more in mind for us this evening than just dinner.” The roughness in his voice scraped her nerves the way she wanted him to suck her nipples. “I want more of you than the simple taste of you. I want to fuck you.”

About the Author:
Felicia Forella first began writing in grade school with the help of a friend. Who dragged who along is still up for debate. She became hooked on romance in high school when her mother bought her a (now autographed) copy of “Ashes in the Wind” by Kathleen Woodiwiss. (See what you started, Mom!) A long hiatus from writing began in college when she realized studying took up a great deal of time and partying took up the rest. She began writing seriously again in the late 90’s and her New Year’s resolution for the new Millennium was to become a published author. She is proud to say this is one New Year’s resolution she actually accomplished. Felicia is a former Air Force brat, which might explain her obsession with men in uniform, who lived all over the South and in Spain. She now lives in PA with her hero husband and her hero-in-training college-age son, who is in Air Force ROTC. Although, given her choice, they would be living somewhere down south as close to the ocean as humanly possible. They have a middle-aged beagle/border collie mix affectionately known as the Supermodel beagle, who is the only female in the house who responds to her husband’s every beck and call.

Now on Kindle! Blanche's Desire by Felicia Forella

I'm a huge fan of Felicia Forella! She's a friend and fellow Wild Rose Press author who also writes for Whiskey Creek Press's Torrid Line. I'm so happy to share the news that some of her books are being reissued with brand-new (hot!) covers and will be available on Kindle!

Blanche's Desire was re-released on August 15 and is now available on Kindle! Go get your copy now! It's only $.99 which is a great bargain! Her stories are sexy, delicious and smokin' hot!

Youthful, vibrant, and with far too many responsibilities to pursue a love life, Blanche Young is over-stressed and under-bedded. Thanks to her brothers, her only long-term relationship is with her favorite vibrator. When Payton Sullivan comes along, he's the embodiment of all her sexual fantasies wrapped up in one well-muscled package. Now, if only her seven over-protective brothers will stay out of her way...

From the first time he sees her, Payton knows Blanche is the hot, luscious incarnation of his dreams. He realizes he has to battle not only his own relationship fears but also her siblings for the right to court her. His ex-girlfriend, however, is a bonafide witch who stalks his every step and is determined to see that there's no happily-ever-after for these two.

Excerpt:

Payton made a generic sound in the back of his throat to alert her to his presence. He felt a twinge of sadness that he couldn’t startle her into flashing him again.

Okay, this was getting ridiculous. These inappropriate thoughts and images had to stop. And he could think of only one way to stop them. Drastic times called for drastic measures.

Blanche pushed her chair back from her desk and spun around. An expectant smile graced her lips.“Did you manage to take care of everything?”

Ahh, solid ground. “I’m all set to begin the installation of your new computer and network tomorrow. I’ll also get the cable installed for your modem. Hopefully, I’ll begin work on Aaron’s office tomorrow as well. Your other brothers will have to wait until Friday, I’m afraid. I want to take care of you first.” He prayed the ground would open up and swallow him whole when telltale blotches popped up on her cheeks again.

On the other hand...

Did this mean her mind wallowed in the gutter right along with his? That fit right into his plans. His very unprofessional plans. So much for all of the valuable lessons and wisdom imparted by his father.

His conscience decided to pick that very moment to make an appearance. And you know what happened the last time you tread down that road, it taunted. What could it hurt, his small head goaded. She’s obviously thinking the same things I am. His cock twinged in anticipation. Mixing business with pleasure is not wise, his damn inner voice spoke up again.

“I’m glad to know that I’ll be well taken care of.” Her smile promised much.

That solved that minor dilemma. “I hope you won’t think I’m too forward or out of line, but would you like to go out for a drink, or better yet, dinner, this evening?” He watched the play of emotions flit across her face—intrigue, interest, and confusion.

He prayed this would not come back to bite him in the ass.

“Well...I, er...that is...”

He saw the indecision. “Strictly business, if you prefer.”

Now the look was pure disappointment. Until she spoke. “A friendly drink, or dinner, would be very nice. Should I run home and freshen up or would you rather get an early start?”

Yes! He mentally pumped a fist in the air. He could now explore this unusual lust for what it really was. A chance to get his lust under control until he finished this job. Now to survive answering a question with no right answer, along the lines of the Do-I-look-fat-in-this-dress trap.

“I think you look fine just the way you are. But if you would be more comfortable freshening up or changing, I can wait for you here.” Or wait for you in your bedroom.

“I wouldn’t mind an early start myself. Do you have any place in mind?” She fiddled with a strand of hair near her ear.

“As a matter of fact, I do.” He offered to drive together in order to spend more time with her. Strictly in the interest of learning the necessary facts, of course.
